Our Noble Wine Certification Course is a series of virtual seminars taught online by a Master Sommelier—the world's highest level of wine expert. It features real-time Q&A and tastings. Members who elect to take and subsequently pass the online test will receive a signed certificate from one of our Master Sommeliers declaring they have successfully passed the Noble Wine Certification Course.

These courses are held once each month in September, October and November of 2012. Introductory members will receive a code that provides access to the live training, along with the certification videos on the VinNobles site.

  • Lesson #3—Food & Wine Pairing
    December 13th, 2012 thru April 13th 2013
    Food & Wine Pairing, featuring a Master Sommelier and an amazing chef. Emphasizes on the seasons’ elegant meals: roast meats with innovative sauces, fish and citrus. Special segment on pairing wines for the holiday table. Includes access to additional recipes in our members’ only section and online recipes and food and wine pairing sessions with one of our Noble Chefs.

Live seminars guide you through the course. Each seminar is available online, so you can review knowledge at any hour of the day or night. There are plenty of opportunities to pose questions, and to get answers from one of the industry’s finest: a Master Sommelier. The course ends with the chance to take an online exam and earn an elegant document, signed by a Master Sommelier, attesting to your knowledge and proving that you have passed the Noble Wine Certification Course.

This course does not require acquiring wines for the certification. But for a complete and virtual experience we recommend acquiring the wines that we actually use in each lesson. Barrie Larvin, President & Master Sommelier

Barrie Larvin has had lifelong passion for wine and work in the industry, and he ranks as the world’s longest-serving wine professional. Only 124 people worldwide have earned the prestigious title of Master Sommelier, and Barrie is one of the most celebrated. As VinNobles’ president and Master Sommelier, he lends his deep and well-honed wine evaluation and acquisition skills, marketing experience and educational talents to ensure VinNobles club members have unparalleled access to a unique wine experience.

Barrie has been featured in Wine Spectator, Food & Wine Magazine, Bon Appétit, and other publications. He has also graced the covers of The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Chicago Sun Times. In 1996, Barrie joined the Executive Team at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, where he played a key role in creating the celebrated wine cellar there, largely regarded as the best in the world. It has been awarded numerous distinctions, including the World’s Largest Private Cellar, the Five Star and Five Diamond awards, and the highest designation by Wine Spectator.

A longtime proponent and innovator in wine education, Barrie is a past president of the Court of Master Sommeliers and personally developed and implemented the curriculum and standards for their prestigious certifications.
